THE SUMMER SONGWRITING WORKSHOP 2019

Are you a Singer-Songwriter looking to improve your writing and performing skills? Or are you a lyricist or composer looking for expert advice on developing your songs? Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a passionate newcomer, the Summer Songwriting Workshop 2019 in Paris, France is for you! My goal is to help you cultivate your creative potential in a friendly, professional environment with other like-minded songwriters. The city of Paris with its myriads of cafés, gardens and museums is a wonderful destination to explore and develop your creativity. The atmosphere in the City of Light will inspire you to create your very best work, and in the evenings Paris will entertain you with its nightlife, theatres and concerts at your doorstep wherever you stay. More than just a workshop, John Meldrum’s Summer Songwriting workshop is an immersion into the poetic nature of the world’s most beautiful city.
When? FROM MONDAY JULY 8TH AT 10AM TO FRIDAY JULY 12TH, 2018 5PM
Where? Daily sessions at the ATLA music school in the famous Pigalle district of Paris, plus « inspiration in the afternoon » writing sessions in various Parisian landmarks.
How much? 360 euros for the Master Classes Monday through Friday from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm (30 hours of classroom instruction) and 2 afternoon outings in Paris. There is a non-refundable application fee of 60 euros. The class is limited to 10 participants. Food, accomodations and travel expenses are the responsibility of each individual. You should purchase a weekly pass for unlimited travel on Paris’ extensive network of subways, buses, trams and trains. And don’t forget a photo for your pass Navigo!
Who with? Your host is John Meldrum, Singer-Songwriter and Songwriting instructor at the ATLA music school in Paris, France and visiting faculty at the ICMP in London, England.
What do I need to bring? You should bring plenty of writing paper and pencils with erasers and perhaps a laptop. A rhyming dictionary. I supply the Roget’s Thesaurus. A recording device (eg : a Zoom H2 or your i-Phone). There will be pianos and guitars in the classroom.
