John Meldrum and the Highlitess' "MEAN OLD QUEEN" made the pre-selection for the France 2 primetime TV show La Grande Battle with their inspired version of Mozart's famous Queen of the Night aria from THE MAGIC FLUTE.
The aim of the show is to revisit famous classical music themes and arrange them in a up-to-date fashion. With "Mean Old Queen" we have not only chosen to do a Ska version, but we have turned the heads on the Mean Old Queen herself by having Pamina burst in and tell her Mama what's what! Check it out.
John Meldrum and The Highlites ont participé en 2012 au casting de La Grande Battle organisée par France 2. Objectif : revisiter un des grands thèmes classiques proposés et proposer cet arrangement sous forme de clip.Nous avions choisi l'air de la Reine de la Nuit de La Flûte Enchantée de Mozart.
Rebaptisée Mean Old Queen, notre version, drôlement bien inspirée et magiquement scénarisée, est plutôt inattendue !
